Bodice Block Updates

NOTE: I’m currently in the process of updating my pattern blocks and am working to improve the overall fit of both size ranges, including through a 2-part Fitted Peplum Top pattern test.

The fitted pattern files for the Night Heron and Magpie dress will be updated soon (tentatively by Mid-Late March) and will be made available to any customers and pattern testers who have purchased or tested these patterns prior to the update. (The Pheasant Dress and Sparrow-Lark Skirt pattern releases are scheduled to follow shortly after!)

As Joseon Modern Designs' Fitted Peplum Top (and bodice block fit) pattern test is about to enter Round 2, I just wanted to share some of the changes I made to Round 1's fitted pattern pieces as well as the new mockup fit for Marian and Guinevere.

Some of the tester feedback I sought to address with this new draft included reducing excess front and back armscye length and center back length for both size ranges, as well as adding center front length and shoulder length to Guinevere's block.

Plus size patternmaking isn’t inherently more difficult than straight-size patternmaking, but it does look different. I initially was hesitant to drop the front bodice by the needed amount because its appearance differed from the straight-size block, so I really appreciated fit feedback highlighting this issue!

Please note that the pinned fabric mockups include a .5in/12mm seam allowance and that the dress form for Marian has slightly narrower shoulders than the drafted pattern.

Stay tuned~ some exciting updates are coming soon!
